Ballroom Dance

Movement. Confidence. Reinvention.

Ballroom dance has become one of the most rewarding chapters of my life.

After years of ballet, I found it increasingly difficult to continue training at the level I wanted. Rather than giving up dance altogether, I discovered ballroom dancing, and it opened a door I never expected.

What started as a new challenge quickly became a passion.

Today, ballroom is my creative outlet, where I can express myself fully while continuing to grow both physically and mentally.

More Than Dance

Ballroom has taught me that age does not define what is possible. It has challenged my body, strengthened my mind, and reminded me that learning never stops. Every new routine requires discipline, focus, and trust. Learning to follow a partner, mastering new choreography, and pushing through discomfort have all helped me grow far beyond the dance floor.

The physical benefits have been incredible as well. Ballroom has helped me lose more than 30 pounds, and today I feel stronger and healthier than I have in over twenty years. Perhaps my favorite part of competing is seeing the audience enjoy my performances. Knowing that my dancing brings joy to others leaves me feeling empowered every time I step onto the floor.

Finding My Rhythm

I have been dancing ballroom for two years and currently compete in both American Smooth and American Rhythm.

American Smooth

  • Waltz
  • Tango
  • Foxtrot
  • Viennese Waltz

American Rhythm

  • Cha-Cha
  • Rumba
  • Swing
  • Bolero
  • Mambo

I compete in both Open and Closed divisions, as well as Solo events.

Every competition challenges me to improve my technique, strengthen my confidence, and discover what I’m capable of achieving.

    Competition Journey

Over the past two years, I’ve had the opportunity to compete at some of the most respected ballroom competitions in North America, including:

    • Regional Competitions
    • Interregional Competitions
    • United States Dance Championships (USDC)
    • Fred Astaire National Competitions

I am proud to be the current Bronze National Champion, and each competition continues to motivate me to raise my standard even higher.

Along the way, I have earned numerous medals and trophies, but the greatest reward has been discovering what is possible through dedication and perseverance.

    Training & Goals

I train 12–15 hours each week at Fred Astaire Miami Beach, where I continue refining my technique alongside some of the industry’s top professionals.

My primary instructors are my dance partner and his wife, both ranked among the Top 10 American Smooth Professionals in the United States. I’ve also had the privilege of training with Karina Smirnoff, former Dancing with the Stars champion, whose guidance has been a tremendous inspiration.

My goal is to continue advancing through the competitive levels and one day fulfill a lifelong dream of competing at the Blackpool Dance Festival in England. This November, I’ll also be taking the floor at the prestigious Ohio Star Ball, another exciting milestone in my ballroom journey.

    Beyond the Dance Floor

Ballroom is about far more than competition. It represents resilience, confidence, creativity, and the courage to embrace new beginnings. Every lesson, every performance, and every competition reminds me that growth never has an expiration date.

If my journey inspires someone else to step outside their comfort zone, pursue a forgotten dream, or believe in themselves again, then every hour spent on the dance floor has been worthwhile.
